Sunday        June 6, 2010                    IHC Annual Meeting and Hike                     Moderate/Moderately Strenuous

IHC Members Only, Please.             RAIN DOES NOT CANCEL THE MEETING.

A fine view in fair weather, and a shelter if it spritzes. After the meeting an optional longer hike will be available.

      We encourage all IHC members to come to the annual business meeting and election of officers.

From Suffern @ I-87 & I-287 Interchange Exit 15A: Take Rt-17 north 4½ miles, to Seven Lakes Drive, just north of Sloatsburg, NY. Turn right onto Seven Lakes Drive; go 12½ miles. Silver Mine Picnic/Parking Area is on the right. $ Parking Fee.

From the Palisades Interstate Parkway Exit 18 @ intersection of PIP & Rt-6: Go north to Long Mountain Circle, then take Seven Lakes Drive west 1½  miles to Silver Mine Picnic/Parking Area on left. $ Parking Fee.

    Spend a day paddling on a beautiful lake with a picnic afterwards.

From I-287 North Exit 58: On exiting turn left at light and proceed 0.1 mi to Rt-202 (Ramapo Valley Rd). Turn right (southbound), drive 1 mi to Light where Rt-202 turns right. Follow Rt-202 1 mi to driveway on right. Note! Driveway is at the end of guardrail

From I-287 South Exit 58: On exiting, turn left (southbound) onto Rt-202 (Ramapo Valley Rd) and continue through town 1.3 mi to Light where Rt-202 turns right. Follow Rt-202 1 mi to driveway on right. Note! Driveway is at the end of guardrail

 

Saturday     June 12, 2010                                             NYC Hike                                  Moderately Strenuous

Walk the High Line, pass through the Chelsea Piers, walk downtown through Greenwich Village, around the World Trade Center site, go to WFC and have lunch, walk over the Brooklyn Bridge and back to NY over the Manhattan Bridge. Bring shoes that are comfortable for lots of miles on city streets.

Saturday     June 19, 2010                  Ice Caves Mt. – Minnewaska                                                            Strenuous

Ice Caves Mt. is also known as Sam's Point Dwarf Pine Ridge Preserve. Some of the features on this hike may include the climb up to Ice Caves Mt. and the views from this area. Sorry but it may be too early for Blueberries! Drive to hike.

From the South, @I-87N & I-287 Exit 15A: Take Rt-17 North 15 mi. The Commuter Lot is on the northbound side (right) of Rt-17.

From the North, NYS Thruway Exit 16: Proceed south on Rt-17 about 2 miles to Commuter lot on the left side.

From I-287 Exit 55: Go north on Ringwood Ave. (Rt-511) about 13 miles to Warwick Tpk. at south end of Greenwood Lake. Continue straight-ahead 5 mi. on Warwick Tpk. past Upper Greenwood Lake. Turn left at park entrance. Continue past the Ranger Station 2¼ mi. to the entrance to Beach Parking on the left. Drive left past the Beach Parking ¼ mi. to the Boat Launch Parking Area.

 

Sunday        June 27, 2010                  Anderson Bypass & Swim in Macs Lake            Moderately Strenuous

On this circular hike, we will have views of the Kittatinny mountain range and of Lake Hopatcong via a little used section of the Highland Trail that borders Hopatcong and Byram. Also a visit to Bear Pond which is a MOST beautiful little known pond and part of the Hudson Farm area. Bring bathing suits for swim at end of hike.                             Heavy Rain Cancels

Meet: 9:00AM     Roland May Eves Mtn Inlet Sanctuary; Rt-609 (Lakeside Ave/Northwood Rd); Hopatcong , NJ 07821

From I-80 Exit 34B (Rt-15 North): Go north on Rt-15 about 4.6 mi.; and exit onto Rt-181N toward Lk. Forest/Woodport. Proceed 1.8 mi. on Rt-181N to Prospect Point Rd on left. Turn on Prospect Point Rd and go 1.2 mi to Northwood Rd (Rt-609) on right. Turn and proceed 1.0 mi. turning into parking area on left. Note! Northwood Rd. becomes Lakeside Ave in Hopatcong
