The hike starts from Parking Lot A (paved,
it’s just beyond the Eagles and summertime payment booth) We then climb the
Green Trail (viewpoint) to Blue (Skyline). Hike back trails. We shall see the
Skylands Manor in winter.
Heavy snow or ice cancels hike.

Parking Lot A, Skylands Manor, Ringwood, NJ 07456
From I-287 Exit 55: Go north on Ringwood Ave. (Rt-511) about 7 miles to Sloatsburg Rd; turn
right for 2 mi to Skylands sign. Turn right onto Morris Ave, go one mi to
"Eagles Gateway" near Manor House; continue straight to parking lot
"A" on left.
From Suffern @ I-87 & I-287 Interchange Exit 15A: Take Rt-17 north 2 mi to Sterling Mine Road (Rt-72).
Right exit at Sterling Mine Road (becomes Sloatsburg Rd. in NJ), go about 4 mi.
Turn left at Skylands Botanical Garden sign, and proceed as above.

A beautiful winter hike of about 6 to 7
miles, with an elevation gain of 450 feet. Nice view from top.

Lake Parking, Shades of Death Rd; Great Meadows, NJ 07838
From I-80 Exit 19 (Hackettstown/Andover exit): Keep to right at the end of the ramp; cross Rt-517
heading downhill for 0.2 mile; turn left before the Allamuchy General Store
onto Rt-612. Continue 1.1 mile; turn left onto Long Bridge Rd. (Rt-615) then
continue 1.2 mile; turn right onto Shades of Death Rd. and continue 3.1 miles
to the parking lot for Ghost Lake on the right, with the Jenny Jump sign
visible.

Reservation in a whirl wind tour including the Lost Village and a former quarry
and old industrial area. 8 mile loop. Foul

From East bound I-78, Exit 45: Go right onto Glenside Ave. In ½ mi. turn left onto
Watchung Reservation Tracy Dr. Continue to the first circle and take first
right onto Summit Lane. Go ½ mi. and bear right onto New Providence Rd. to the
end. The Trailside Parking Area is on right.
From West bound I-78, Exit 43: Proceed right on Diamond Hill Rd.
to Traffic Light and turn right onto McMane Ave. Go on ¾ mi. to intersection of
Glenside Ave. and turn left. Continue ¾ mi. to Watchung Reservation Tracy Dr.
on right. Continue to the first circle and take first right onto Summit Lane.
Go ½ mi. and bear right onto New Providence Rd. to the end. The Trailside
Parking Area is on right.
From Garden State Parkway Exit 140 (Rt-22): Take Rt-22 west about 5 miles to New Providence Rd,
(Boro of Mountainside) turn right and continue 4 blocks to Tracy Dr. Turn
right, follow Tracy Dr. to circle, then 3/4 around to Summit Lane. Go 1/2 mile
and bear right onto New Providence Rd. to the end. The Trailside Parking Area
is on right.

Sourlands in Winter

Come
enjoy a 8½ mile hike in the Sourland Mountain preserve. Scale the valley of
rocks and see the Devils half acre. The leaves will be down so be prepared for
lovely view of the surrounding farm fields.

Parking Area, East Mountain Rd., Hillsborough, NJ 08844
From Rt-287 Exit onto Rt-206 southbound: Follow Rt-206 south to Somerville Circle (Junction of
Rt-202 & Rt-206). Continue south on Rt-206 5.9 miles, then turn right on
Rt-514 (Amwell Rd). Proceed West 2 miles to East Mountain Rd. Turn left onto
East Mountain Rd. Travel for two miles, and you will see the Sourland Mountain
Preserve entrance sign on the right.
From Rt-206 Northbound: Follow Rt-206 through Princeton and Montgomery. Traveling up a small ramp, make a left onto Rt-601. Follow Rt-601 for a ½ mile, and make a right turn onto East Mountain Road by Carrier Foundation. Travel for 1 mile, and you will see the Sourland Mountain Preserve entrance sign on the left.
